How to turn a blog into a video in minutes

This is the basic workflow that I follow to turn any piece of written content into a blog fast. The two tools you’ll need are ChatGPT (or whatever LLM you like) and a video editor like Animoto. In no time, I was able to create this video based on the content in our blog:

Here’s how you can do the same!

Step 1: Generate video ideas

First up, let’s find out what kind of video you should create based on your content. To do this, you can just copy your content or blog URL and paste it into ChatGPT. Then, give it this prompt:

PROMPT:

I want you to generate 5 to 10 unique and engaging video ideas based on the content of this article. Each video idea should be tailored to achieve my specific goal: [Goal: e.g., blog visits, registrations, sales, engagement, etc.]. Please consider the preferences and interests of my audience, who are [Audience description]. The videos will be posted on [Platforms: Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube, etc.], so suggest formats and styles that work well on these platforms. Also, include a brief explanation of why each idea would resonate with my audience and help reach my goal.

For our example, here are the video ideas ChatGPT provided:

Step 2: Choose your favorite & write a script

Check out your list of video ideas and pick your favorite. Then, use this prompt to generate a video script and visual guide for that video:

Step 3: Fire up your video editor

Now let’s get down to business! If you want to create professional videos fast, you need a flexible video editor.

Step 4: Add your script & edit

Your script will serve as the guide for your entire video! Just copy and paste it into your video to create a storyboard. From here, you can edit by adding visuals, applying your brand colors, playing with animations, adding music, and more.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • You can apply your own custom colors and choose a font from the design tab. If you want to create videos regularly, you can create one-click saved brands with a pro plan.
  • To add images, just upload them to your media tray. Then, drag and drop them into your video, choose a shape and transition, and adjust as you’d like.

Step 5: Resize and optimize for multiple platforms

Here’s how to make a copy of your video in different aspect ratios:

  1. Export your video, then click on your name and click on “Projects”
  2. Click on the three dots on the upper right corner of your video and click “Copy”
  3. Open your new copied video, then click on the Aspect Ratio button
  4. Select your new desired ratio and adjust your video elements as needed

In general, the ideal aspect ratio for every platform is:

  • Instagram: 9:16 (vertical)
  • Facebook: 9:16 (vertical)
  • TikTok: 9:16 (vertical)
  • X: 1:1 (square)
  • YouTube: 16:9 (landscape)
  • YouTube Shorts: 9:16 (vertical)
  • LinkedIn: 1:1 (square)
  • Snapchat: 9:16 (vertical)

Step 6: Create a caption

Last but not least, let’s ensure that your video gets seen by giving it a great caption and meta info. AI can help!

Here’s a great prompt for creating your caption:
